Bennie Ray Parsley
June 17, 1936 - March 2, 2019



Bennie Ray Parsley, age 82 and a resident of Franklinton, died Saturday evening March 2, 2019 at Riverside Medical Center. He was a native of Comanche County, TX that joined the United States Air Force following his high school graduation. Bennie served his country in Guam, Thailand and other parts of the world and the United States. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved back to Washington Parish where he began a 20 year career as a delivery man with the United States Post Office in Bogalusa. Bennie was a member of the Masonic Lodge that never met a stranger because he enjoyed visiting with the people he met. He was an avid reader of science fiction adventure novels. Bennie enjoyed fishing and tinkering with small machines like watches and other items. He collected coins and had an affinity for guns, as he was an excellent marksman. Bennie had a special place in his heart for his pet dogs.

Survived by: 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Alan Ray and Koleta Parsley of Humble, TX, David Everett and Leah Parsley of Chopin, LA; Daughter: Jonteel Thomas of Franklinton; Grandchildren and Spouses: Jon Michael and Carly Thomas, Benjamin and Dana Thomas, Amanda and Zach Magee, Bethany Duplessis, Cody and Trude Parsley, David and Katie Mulkey, Danna Parsley, Joshua Parsley; 15 Great-grandchildren; Brother and Sister in law: Royce and Darlene Parsley of Cisco, TX; Sister: Leatha Alcox of Eastland, TX; Also numerous brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Mary Nell Busby Parsley, parents Daniel Everett Parsley and Ester Lee Parsley, brother Luther Parsley, sister Marcelle Cain.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Tuesday March 5th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A Masonic Rites service will be held at 10:45 am Wednesday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Wednesday with Rev. Stan Adams officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.
