Alexander R. Esteva
March 17, 2000 - March 15, 2019



Alexander R. Esteva was born in Jesup, GA, on March 17th, 2000, and passed away in Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, LA, on March 15th, 2019, at the age of 18. He was a lifelong resident of Bogalusa, Louisiana. Known for his intelligence and quirky wit, Alex graduated with honors from Franklinton High School in May 2018.

Alex is survived by his mother, Traci Grimes Chauvin, and stepfather, Vincent Chauvin Jr.; his brother and sister-in-law, Cory and Kara Magee; his sisters, Katie Summers, Tatiana Pertruska, Kallie Sheridan, and Ella Chauvin; his stepsiblings, Vincent “Trey” Chauvin III (Heather), Brittney Chauvin, Kayla Fuller (James), Ragen Spears (Gilbert), and Faith Chauvin; and his grandparents, Rolando and Marta Esteva and Vincent and Ellen Chauvin Sr. He had numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many friends, who adored him and his witty sense of humor. Other close family members include: Michael Sheridan, Annie Blackburn, Archie “Trey” Grimes III, and Courtney Martin.

Alex is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Archie and Donna Grimes, and his biological father, Roland Esteva.

Services will be held at Memorial Baptist Church (1509 S Columbia St, Bogalusa, LA, 70427) with visitation being Tuesday, March 19, 2019 from 5 pm-9 pm and Wednesday, March 20 from 9 am-11 am, with the funeral at 11 am, officiated by Rev. Keith Sheridan and Rev. Field Thigpen. Burial to follow at Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa.

Pallbearers include: Luke Garbo, Archie Grimes III, Crockett McElveen, Jacob Smith, Jacob Tate III, and Austin Thomassen.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alex’s memory to either Celebrate Recovery at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church of Bogalusa, LA or Woodlake Addiction Recovery Center 10473 Old Hammond Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.

Alex spent his last days trying to help others get into rehab and was also waiting for a bed to open for himself. He knew the demons had returned and he couldn’t fight them alone.
