Two Arrested After Pursuit and Scuffle with Deputies

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested Chynna Dowling (27) of Mandeville and Cory Kendrick (25) of Lafayette just after midnight on Wednesday (February 6, 2019) after a brief pursuit and scuffle with deputies.
A deputy observed a vehicle travelling eastbound in the westbound lane of travel and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle fled, but not before striking a curb, damaging both passenger side tires. The driver committed numerous traffic violations, and used her vehicle to ram into a marked STPSO patrol unit during the pursuit on at least two occasions.

The vehicle was ultimately stopped and Dowling and her passenger (Kendrick) were arrested. Upon conclusion of the pursuit, deputies learned that Dowling’s six-year-old daughter was seated in the rear of the vehicle.  Dowling was found to have marijuana on her person, and additional marijuana was also located inside the vehicle.  The child was not injured and was released to the custody of a family member.

Dowling was charged with Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway of Commerce, Cruelty to Juveniles, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Possession of Marijuana, Driving Across Median, and Driving Under Suspension

Kendrick was charged with Attempt/Disarming of a Peace Officer, Resisting an Officer, and Simple Possession of Marijuana.
