A resident called to report his vehicles had been burglarized and that he had suspicious persons in the neighborhood. Responding deputies established a perimeter around the complex and two individuals matching the descriptions provided by a resident were observed attempting to flee the area by running through backyards and hopping fences. The two were located and detained with the assistance of K-9 Deputy Zarik and his handler. A third individual was located shortly thereafter, hiding in a nearby backyard, and was also taken into custody. They were found to be in possession of cash, jewelry and other items of value taken during the course of these burglaries.
Arrested were Derrick Bailey (18) and Darrius Mitchell (21), both of Harvey, and a 16-year-old Slidell-area juvenile. Each was charged with Simple Burglary (4 counts) and Resisting an Officer.
