Elmer "Rip" Rohner
February 13, 1934 - January 5, 2019



Elmer George "Rip" Rohner, age 84 and a resident of Kentwood, died early Saturday morning January 5, 2018 at his home. He was the owner/operator of Amite Sign Company for 43 years and the owner of The Pines in Kentwood for many years. Rip loved to play his bass guitar at home and often played during services at various churches that he attended in the area. He enjoyed fishing and liked to keep a well landscaped and manicured lawn. Rip always enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survived by: Wife of 30 years: Debbie Goings Rohner of Kentwood; 5 Children: Ashley Rohner of Baton Rouge, Alex Rohner of Kentwood, Jeannie Watkins of Missouri, Diane Rohner of Amite, Dorinda Rohner of Kentwood; 8 Grandchildren: Danny Watkins, Timmy Lawrence, Misty Nicolosi, Jason Lawrence, Scarlett Sigrest, Melvin Battles, Mike O’Hara, Nicole Watkins; 20 Great-grandchildren; 4 Great-great-grandchildren; Sister in law: Carol Rohner of California; Also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Cathy O’Hara, parents Murphy Rohner and Mary Bridges Rohner, great-granddaughter Mia Ruth O’Hara, a brother Jesse Rohner and sister Stella Frances Rounsaville.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton. LA) on Tuesday January 8th from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 7:00 pm Tuesday with Rev. Clay Spinks officiating.
