Shirley Mae Mims
November 14, 1948 - October 29, 2018



Shirley Mae Helen Humbles Mims, age 69 of Bogalusa, LA., passed from Earth to Heaven on Monday, October 29, 2018 in New Orleans, LA.

Sister Shirley Mae Helen Humbles Mims was born in Independence, LA on November 14, 1948 to the late Roy Humbles and Laura Vernon Humbles of Amite, LA.

Sister Mims was baptized at an early age at the Mount Caanan Baptist Church in Arcola, LA by Rev. R. L. Primus.

She Grauduated from Westside High School, Amite, La and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Southern University- Baton Rouge Campus.

In 1969 Sister Shirley Humbles met Raymond E. Mims, they fell in love and was married on June 26, 1971 and to this union there was a stillborn birth of a baby girl; Ramonica Mims.

In 1969 Sister Mims was employed at Crown Zellerbach, Southern Timber and Wood Products Division in Bogalusa, La as a Secretary in the Accounting Department.  In 1987 she retired as an Administrative Assistant to the Director Of Woodlands.  In 1998 she worked as temporary Secretary at the Bogalusa Mill and later that year she became manager Of Insurance Enterprise and Supervisor at Protocol Call Center.

In 1971 she joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Aaron J. Thompson, Pastor.  In 1978 she joined the Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of her husband D. Raymond E. Mims. She served as Organist and Pianist and she served as the Secretary of the Education Committee, Secretary of the Building Fund Committee and Member of Sunday School Class #8.

She leaves to mourn her passing, Dr. Raymond E. Mims, Husband and Pastor; One Daughter, Terria Michelle Peters; One son, Raymond E. (Kim) Mims; Two Grandchildren, Taylor Rene Mims and Diamond Lewis; Brother, Elder (Barbara Q.) Humbles; Special friend, Mrs. Erica (Don) Brumfield and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Friday, November 2, 2018 from 5 pm to 6 pm at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church in Bogalusa. A Family Gathering will follow from 6 pm to 8 pm. The Funeral will be November 3, 201 at 2 pm at the the Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church.
