Ben Jones
January 6, 1942 - November 17, 2018



Benjamin Alfred "Ben" Jones, age 76 and a resident of Franklinton died Saturday afternoon November 17, 2018 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Frist Baptist Church of Franklinton. Ben was retired after a career as a support specialist with Xerox Business Solutions. He loved to go camping and often traveled in his camper to the Gulf Coast or to Shreveport to visit his beloved grandchildren. Ben enjoyed playing golf with his Walking Group and always loved the monthly social gatherings with his good friends in The Porch Group and Poker Group. Ben had a special place in his heart for his pet dog “Prissy Girl”.

Survived by: Wife: Martha Jones of Franklinton; 2 Daughters and a Son in law: Cynthia Jones of Chapel Hill, NC Julie Montgomery Bedsole and Karl Bedsole of Shreveport; Grandchildren: Wesley Montgomery Bedsole, Whitney Michelle Bedsole; 3 Sisters and a Brother in law: Barbara Chitwood of Franklinton, Betty and Michael Elliot of Poplarville, MS, Beverly Young of Franklinton; Step-sister and Brother in law: Charlene and Tim Buckley of Columbia, MS; Step-brother and Sister in law: Craig and Anita Talley of Joplin, MO; Also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Jan Michelle Montgomery, father and step-mother Benjamin A. Jones, Sr. and Arline Jones, mother and step-father Lora and Reynolds Sutterfield, a brother Brannon Jones and brother in law Earl Nelson.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Tuesday November 20th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Tuesday with Rev. Larry Stafford and Rev. Joey Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Fisher United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to the Charles and Jan Montgomery Scholarship Fund c/o First Baptist Church of Franklinton (950 Self Street, Franklinton, LA 70438).

Honorary Pallbearers are his many friends in The Porch Group and The Poker Group.
