Obituary

L.E. Toney
October 17, 1926 - November 13, 2018



L. E. Toney, age 92 and a resident of Pine, passed away early Tuesday morning November 13, 2018 at his home. He was retired after a career of over 40 years at the bag plant of the Bogalusa Paper Mill. During this time, L.E. also operated a successful dairy farm and later raised beef cattle. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Pine Missionary Baptist Church for 67 years while acting as the music leader for 65 years.

Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: Tommy and Gail Toney of Lacombe; Daughter in law: Viviana Toney of Pine; 2 Grandchildren and Spouses: Jennifer and Mike Beninato of Varnado, William Scott and April Toney of Pine; 6 Great-grandchildren: Anna Beninato, Will Toney, Grayson Toney, Hannah, Haley and Hayden Jacobs; Great-great-grandchild: Evelyn Duvall; Brother: Harlon Toney of Kentwood; 4 Sisters and a Brother in law: Louise and L.H. Turnage of McComb, MS, Elnora Melear of Franklinton, Agnes Smith, Genevieve Koch both of Lexie, MS; Sisters in law and a Brother in law: Juanita and Johnny Ramshur, Nell Crain all of Pine; Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death recently by his wife of 67 years Burnettie Crain Toney and son James Edwin “Jim” Toney, his parents Jessie and Charlotte Toney, brothers John Ellis Toney, Angus Toney and sister Lucille Grace.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Wednesday November 14th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue Thursday at Pine Missionary Baptist Church from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11:00 am Thursday with Eld. Adam Luper officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Pine Community Cemetery.
