Bernard Lester
January 28, 1947 - October 7, 2018



Bernard Peter Lester, age  71 and a resident of Franklinton, died Sunday evening October 7, 2018 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. He was born January 28, 1947 in Belle Chase, LA and was a longtime resident of Thibodaux, LA before moving to Washington Parish about 15 years ago. Bernard worked off-shore for many years before moving to Franklinton. He was more recently a dredge operator at several different gravel pits throughout the area. Bernard loved to watch old western movies on TV and he had a special place in his heart for his pet dog Smokey.

Survived by: Wife: Lisa Rowell Lester of Franklinton; Son and Daughter in law: Keith and Mae Lester of Thibodaux; 3 Daughters and Sons in law: Veronica and Neil Cortez, Velma and Scott Rome all of Thibodaux, Stacey and Larry Boudreaux of Raceland; 6 Grandchildren; 2 Great-grandchildren; 3 Sisters and a Brother in law: Geraldine Richtofen of Mississippi, Rosemary Bonvillian, Beverly and Leo Palmisano all of Belle Chase; Mother in law: Deyseree Breland of Franklinton; Also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Lester and Velma Navaire Lester, brothers Roy Lester, William “Billy” Lester, Jr., Edward Lester, Calvin Lester, sisters Thelma Benoit, Evelyn Bruce, brothers in law Edward “Mike” Bonvillian and Alvin Richtofen.

A private family memorial service will be planned at a later date.
