Paul McElveen
March 2, 1937 - October 25, 2018



Paul McElveen, age 81 and a resident of Franklinton, died Thursday October 25, 2018 at the Post Accute Medical in Hammond. He was a graduate of Franklinton High School where he was a proud member of the Demon Football team. Paul served for many years as a Merchant Marine and was also a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War Era. Paul was the longtime owner operator of an oil-field fabrication business that served the industry all over the world including in the North Sea, where the family lived for a year. He was a mason and a member of a masonic lodge in Scotland during that time and later was a longtime member of the masonic lodge in Covington. Paul liked to plant a successful garden every year and was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

Survived by: 2 Sons and a Daughter in law: Anthony Bishop McElveen, Sr. of Albany, Patrick N. and Lynn McElveen of Mt. Hermon; 4 Grandchildren: Bishop McElveen, Melinda McElveen, Johnny Istre, Michelle Istre; Siblings and Their Spouses: Russell McElveen of Mt. Hermon, Ted and Kathy McElveen of Stony Point, Randy and Debbie McElveen of Mt. Hermon, Lynette McElveen of Isabel, Ronald McElveen of Franklinton; Longtime Friend: Frank Jordan; Also numerous nephews and nieces, sisters in law and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Barbara Husser McElveen, an infant daughter Deedrah McElveen, infant son Scott McElveen, parents Lucious L. and Mildred McElveen and an infant brother Ricky McElveen.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Monday October 29th from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Monday with Rev. Scott Spinks officiating. Burial will follow in the Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.
