Obituary

Margaret Varnado Fussell
April 5, 1921 - September 14, 2018



Margaret Varnado Fussell, age 97 and a resident of Franklinton died Friday morning September 14, 2018 at her home. She was a 1939 graduate of Franklinton High School then obtained an associate’s degree in business college. Margaret worked for over 40 years as a secretary and later the executive secretary at REA for Mr. Lyle Killingsworth. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton where she taught children’s Sunday school for many years. Margaret enjoyed working in her flower beds and loved spending time with her family. She adored each of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survived by: 2 Daughters and Sons in law: Sherri and Earle R. “Robbie” Brown, Jr., Jana and Robert Stafford all of Franklinton; Grandchildren and Spouses: Barrett and Christi Brown, Emily and Steve Kudirka, Joanna and Justin Bowles, Dustin and Madonna Stafford, Dana and Ben Thomas; Great-grandchildren: Beau Brown, Lyla Kudirka, Austin Kudirka, Kamryn Bowles, Dalton Bowles, Logan Stafford, Kamryn Stafford, Lucy Thomas, Griffin Thomas; Also numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Fussell, parents Newton Varnado and Ora McCain Varnado, sister and brother in law Ellen and Clyde James, brother and sister in law Ray and Sally Varnado.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Monday September 17th from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Monday with Rev. Joey Miller officiating with a eulogy provided by friend Dora Magee.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to her caregivers Jerry McDonald, Marye Dykes and Christine King for their loving care and support through the years. Also a thank you to the staffs of PrimeCare Home Health and Heart of Hospice.
