Deacon Percy Gatlin
July 29, 1925 - September 07, 2018

On Friday Evening, Sept. 7, 2018, Deacon Percy Gatlin departed this life and went home to be with the Heavenly Hosts.

Percy was born to the late Willie Gatlin and Vicie Leonard on July 29, 1925 in Bogalusa LA. He received his formal education in Bogalusa School System.  He was baptized at an early age and later in his life he was ordained deacon at Second Baptist Church where he taught the youth and stood as a role model until his passing.

Percy served our country from 1943 to 1946 in the United States Army.  His tour of duty included Europe, Africa, France and Germany.  He loved his family and cared so much for his friends.  His joy came from helping others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Willie Gatlin and Vicie Leonard; two sons; Joe Lewis Jones and James Edward Jones; one daughter; Lovie Lee Crawford; five brothers; L.J. Gatlin, Toy Gatlin, Lucious Gatlin, Stennis Gatlin and Bang Gatlin.

He leaves to cherish his memories one son, Carl (Dora) Jones of Bogalusa, LA; one  brother, Rufus (Ardezella) Gatlin, Folsom, LA; two sisters; Emma (Victor) Clark, Tylertown, MS, Anna (Brian) Williams of Buckeye, AZ and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 1:00PM - 3:00PM followed by the funeral service at 3:00PM at Second Baptist Church 1412 North Avenue, Bogalusa, LA 70427 with Rev. Darrel Self - Pastor Officiating. Interment will be held at the Bogalusa Cemetery. Crain and Sons Funeral Home - Bogalusa is in charge of arrangements.
