Versey Bryant Peterson, age 98 and a resident of Franklinton died Thursday night September 13, 2018. She was born in Purvis, MS, as eldest of 10 siblings. She later married a Washington Parish native, Lief Peterson, and moved to Franklinton where she was an employee and floor manager at Rutter Rex Manufacturing Company for over thirty years.
Versey was an avid gardener. She loved flowers and cooking the vegetables she had grown for her family. She was a loving mother who adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, enjoyed music, and was always ready for a shopping trip. Versey said she loved to “live life foot loose and fancy free”.
Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: Craig and Rita Peterson of Franklinton; Grandson: Sean Peterson of Houston, TX; Granddaughter and Spouse: Elette and Clay Randolph of Baton Rouge; 3 Great-grandchildren: Julie Peterson, Devin Peterson, Kelsey Peterson; An expected great-granddaughter; 3 Sisters: Liberty B. Johnson of Tylertown, Elenise Snell of California, Vera Nell Lee of Zachary; Brother in law: Eric Peterson of Franklinton; Also numerous nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her husband Lief Edwin Peterson, parents John R. Bryant and Rose Annie Baughtman Bryant, sisters Elouise Collins, Rejona Corban, Arveda Mixon and brothers Loyd J. Bryant, Harvey Ray Bryant, Nelton Bryant.
Visitation will be at Holy Family Catholic Church (1220 14th Ave., Franklinton, LA 70438) on Monday September 17th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held in the church at 12:00 pm Monday with Father Kyle Sanders officiating. A private family burial will take place in Ellis Cemetery at a later date.
