Dorothy Knight Gerhold, age 89 and a resident of Metairie, died Thursday morning August 16, 2018. She was a native of Washington Parish and a graduate of Franklinton High School. Dorothy then attended business college in Baton Rouge before marrying and moving with her husband to New Orleans, where she lived in areas throughout greater New Orleans for many years. She loved completing crossword puzzles and enjoyed reading her favorite romance novels. Dorothy liked to visit the nearby casinos and loved cooking for and hosting her large family. She adored each of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survived by: 8 Children and Spouses: Alexander H. Gerhold, III and Janeene Gerhold, Joyce Hover, Sharon and Dennis Gallagher, Robert W. and Charlotte Gerhold, Beverly and Mike Jones, Dottie Gerhold, Carolyn and Steve Seruntine,
Dewanna and Ronnie Meyers; Step-daughter and Spouse: Rosie and Robert Bennett; 24 Grandchildren; 23 Great-grandchildren; Sister and Brother in law: Pauline and Carlton Armour; Sister in law: Gayle Knight
She was preceded in death by her husband Alexander Henry Gerhold, Jr., parents Warren Knight and Edith Anthony Knight, sisters Darlene Anthony, Dora McCain, brothers Dennis Knight, Dan Knight, Thomas Knight, J.W. Knight.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton, LA) on Sunday August 19th from 10 am until 2 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 pm Sunday with Rev. David Easterling officiating. Burial will follow in the Nobles Cemetery.
