Obituary

James Edward "EJ" Westmoreland
September 29, 1930 - July 29, 2018



James  Edward "EJ" Westmoreland, born in Kentwood and a resident of Magnolia, MS., passed away on July 29, 2018 at the Lawrence County Nursing Home in Monticello, MS. at the age of 87.
Visitation will be Friday from 10 AM until services at 1 PM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb. Rev. Jerry Gressett will officiate and burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery with Military Honors.
He is the son of the late, Sam Ellis and Nettie Cornna Roberts Westmoreland.
James was a retired Fire Chief for the Magnolia Fire Department; where he is remembered as a hero by his family. He was a US Army Veteran having served in Germany in 1951 and 52. He was a loving father, grand, great and great-great grandfather and an avid fisherman. He will be sadly missed by those who loved him.
James is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna Mahaffey Westmoreland, one daughter, Betty Still; brothers, Warren "Jack" Westmoreland, Hance "DC" Westmoreland; sisters, Mary Elsie Sandifer, Effie Jean Newman,Bertha Lee Phillips, Verlie Mae Burch and Grace Love Nall.
He is survived by one son, Edward Westmoreland (Elizabeth), one daughter, Laura Chisolm (Larry), one sister, Ruth Reagan, nine grandchildren, Cindy McKee, Kellie Gentry, Jason Westmoreland, Chris Westmoreland, Amanda Knight, Jessica Chisolm, Samantha Nacio, Cassianna Ingram and Joshua Westmoreland with numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Dwain Brister, Richard Coghlan, Joey Reva, Lonnie Cox, Monroe Guy and Johnny Guy.
