Slidell Police Arrest Two in Separate Theft-Related Incidents

On Friday (June 22, 2018), an off-duty Slidell Police detective spotted a stolen dirt bike being driven around the Fremaux Town Center. The Suzuki bike was reported stolen earlier that same morning from the area of Savannah Drive in Slidell. The off-duty detective followed the stolen dirt bike until other officers arrived.  William Ballet (19), the driver of the bike, fled when he saw Slidell Police officers in the area. However, he ran out of gas and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.
Ballet reportedly admitted to officers that he had stolen the dirt bike, and was arrested for Theft of a Motor Vehicle.
In a second and separate incident, Joshua Sanzone (39) was arrested on Friday night (June 22, 2018). Slidell Police officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Ruby Tuesday in reference to a person attempting to burglarize vehicles. Witnesses reportedly observed Sanzone walking through the parking lot and pulling on door handles of parked vehicles. A citizen confronted Sanzone, who then took off running. Slidell Police arrived and caught Sanzone hiding behind a building.
Sanzone was placed under arrest for Attempted Burglary of a Vehicle.
