Barnes had a plastic bag containing 213 Ecstasy pills. (Enough to spell it out!) Ecstasy is popular with drug abusers and produces euphoria and heightened sensations. It has no approved medical uses and long-term use can leave users severely impaired. Ecstasy is also known as MDMA which is short for its actual name of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine.
Barnes was booked into the Washington Parish Jail charged with possession with intent to distribute Schedule 1 drugs and speeding. Bond was set at $5,000. Barnes met the conditions of his bond and was released on June 12.
“One more drug dealer arrested,” said Sheriff Randy Seal, “and more drugs taken out of circulation. Our Drug Task Force and all of our deputies are always on the alert for illegal drugs in Washington Parish. Great job, Drug Task Force!”
