Suspect Dead in Officer-Related Shooting in Amite

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports today that around 10:00 p.m. last night (May 13, 2018), the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office was involved in an officer-related shooting while responding to a domestic violence call at a residence on Taylor Creek Road in Amite.
The suspect is dead and the case is being investigated by the Louisiana State Police. LSP's news release added that their preliminary investigation reveals the suspect was threatening family members with a weapon and that shots were fired during an encounter with deputies.
“With all things considered, we are incredibly grateful and blessed that none of our deputies were injured during this incident," Edwards said. "I want to thank all first responders and law enforcement agencies who were on scene and offered their assistance.”
