James David Penton, age 64, went to be with his Lord on May 11, 2018 at his home in Mt. Hermon surrounded by his loving family. David was a longtime equipment operator and dairy worker for Tangi-Wash Dairy and Mr. Paul Alford. He liked to go hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. David loved searching our local creeks, rivers and fields for arrowheads, even many times on the Washington Parish Fairgrounds. He had a large collection of arrowheads that he was very proud of. He was also a member of the Louisiana Army National Guard for several years. David always enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survived by: Wife of 45 years: Leoda Strickland Penton of Mt. Hermon; Daughter and Son in law: Sheila and Cliff Durden of Wiggins, MS; Son and Daughter in law: Craig and Dawn Penton of Tylertown, MS; 9 Grandchildren; 1 Great-grandchild; Father: Milton and Kathy Penton of Franklinton; Sister: Debra Dykes of Franklinton; 4 Half-sisters and Spouses: Katherine and Chris Temples of Mt. Hermon, Karen and Chris Roberts, Tina Knight, Tammy and Eric Ingram all of Franklinton; 2 Half-brothers and a Spouse: Joe and Kelly Penton of Mt. Hermon, Jacob Penton of Franklinton; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his son James Devon Penton, mother Dora Lee McCain and brother Jerry Dale Penton.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Tuesday May 15th from 10 am until 1 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1 pm Tuesday with Eld. Don Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the Silver Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Progress, MS.
