One Franklinton Police Officer Promoted – One Receives Award

At the Franklinton Board of Aldermen meeting Tuesday evening (February 27, 2018), Chief Olander Smith announced the promotion of Sargeant William Brumfield to Lieutenant. Brumfield has served in law enforcement for seventeen years, the last seven years with the Franklinton Police Department.
In addition, Patrolman First Class James Harper was presented a Life-Saving Award by Chief Smith and Sargeant William Manning. On December 18, 2017, Smith performed life-saving procedures, that included CPR, on a female who had no signs of breathing or pulse. She was taken to Riverside Medical Center where she was revived. He credited his training received from the Franklinton Fire Department.
In other business,

  • the Council received the latest reports from the Police Department, the Fire Department, and the latest financial report.
  • the Council heard from resident Frankie Crosby who had questions about blighted properties and the need for a four-way stop sign.
  • Councilman Darwin Sharp spoke of the need to repair the privately-owned parking lot across from the Courthouse.
