James E. "Jimmy" Magee
April 20, 1943 - March 2, 2018



JAMES E. “JIMMY” MAGEE, AGE 74 and a resident of the Clifton Community, died Friday March 2, 2018. He was a former supervisor with South Central Bell before moving into the offshore industry where he worked for several companies before retiring from Nabors Drilling. Jimmy also worked alongside family for Bateman & Crain Logging for a few years in between. He was a native of Tylertown, where he had the nickname “Sug” to his friends and school classmates. Jimmy was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge in Franklinton and also a former member of the Mississippi Army National Guard. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Jimmy was always a wonderful husband and loving father to his family.
Survived by: Wife and Best Friend of over 51 years: Alma Bateman Magee of Clifton; 3 Sons and Daughters in law: Jason Willard Magee and Samantha Hagan of Scottsdale, AZ, Mitchell Ward Magee and Angel Magee of Hammond, LA, Harrison Albert Magee and Leslie Magee of St. Amant, LA; Daughter and Son in law: Della Magee and Steve Arceneaux of Clifton; 6 Grandchildren: Justin Anthony Magee, Connor Garrett Magee, Savannah Ashley Magee, Ezekiel Kaliponi Paul Magee, Addison Jennings Magee, Jackson Edward Magee; Sister: Judy Magee of Orlando, FL; Sister in law: Sara Francis Nelson of Clifton; Niece and her Spouse: Hilaria Nelson Broadwater and Chris Broadwater of Hammond and their daughters Emma Grace, Rose Kathron, Maggie Francis, Ruby Jane
He was preceded in death by his parents Ed Magee and Juanita Hart Magee, father in law and mother in law Winfred Bateman and Erlane Bankston Bateman and brother in law Frank Nelson.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Sunday March 4th from 5 pm until 9 pm and after 10 am on Monday. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Juneau and Rev. Percy Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in the Rushing Cemetery in Tylertown.
