Bogalusa: Two 11 Year-Olds Struck While Boarding School Bus

The Bogalusa Police Department responded today (March 15, 2018) at 6:40 AM in response to two eleven year-olds being struck by a vehicle while attempting to board a school bus at the intersection of Marshall Richardson Road and Meadowlea Street. The bus was stopped with the red lights flashing and stop signs deployed.
A vehicle driven by Willie Johnson (66) of Bogalusa failed to stop and struck both children as they were crossing the road to board the bus. The male victim was transported to St. Tammany Hospital in Covington  and then airlifted to Our Lady Of The Lake Hospital In Baton Rouge, where he is now in stable condition. The female victim was transported to St. Tammany Hospital in Covington and later to North Oaks Hospital in Hammond where she is now in stable condition.
Johnson first told the officers that he was a passenger and that the driver had fled the scene. However, all witnesses identified Johnson as the driver.
Johnson was arrested on the charges of Overtaking and Passing School Buses, Resisting an Officer (Providing false information), No Insurance, Expired Drivers License, Unsafe Vehicle, 2 counts of Vehicular Negligent Injury and Driving While Intoxicated (suspected drug use).
