Obituary

Woodrow "Woody" George Hobgood
June 20, 1937 - February 03, 2018

Woodrow “Woody” George Hobgood went to his heavenly home on February 3, 2018 at the age of 80. His devotion to his family and his steadfast belief in God supported him in his struggles and ultimately gave him peace.
Woodrow was born to the late Ellie and Edna Williams Hobgood. He was a graduate of Pine High School. Woodrow was blessed with a loving family. He married Dollie Cidette Sheridan on June 28, 1957, in Bogalusa, LA. Woodrow was a man of great faith and integrity. He served his Lord as deacon at Westside Emmanuel Church. Woodrow was employed at the Paper Mill for 42 years. He was affectionately known as “Hoppy” to his many co-workers. He will be dearly missed by all loved ones, who take comfort and celebrate the fact that he is at peace with the Creator.
The family expresses their gratitude and love to Woodrow’s cardiologist, Dr. Fortune A. Dugan, and his entire staff. They selflessly cared for Woodrow for over 30 years to ensure the family had as much quality time with Woodrow as God would allow.
Woodrow is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dollie Sheridan Hobgood, two daughters and son-in laws, Pamela and Kenneth LeBouef of League City, Texas; Sherry and Shane Richardson of Madisonville, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Kristen LeBouef and her fiancé Sean Nelson; Spencer LeBouef; a great granddaughter, Addison LeBouef, all of League City, Texas; and one sister and brother-in law, Aline and Tommy Sorrell of Bogalusa, Louisiana.
Woodrow was preceded in death by his parents, Ellie and Edna Williams Hobgood; a sister, Azzie Lee Crain; a brother and sister-in law Willie Fay and Arlene Crain Hobgood, his mother- and father-in law, Howard Sr. and Minnie Mae Sheridan.
Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 7th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm and Thursday, February 8th from 9:00am to 11:00am with the funeral service at 11:00am. Pastor Marcus Rosa of Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
