Obituary

Lonnie Allen
August 2, 1949 - January 16, 2018



RICHARD LONNIE ALLEN, AGE 68 and a resident of Folsom died at 10:00 pm Tuesday January 16, 2018 at his home. He was a longtime employee of Washington-St. Tammany Electric Co-op, where he began his career as a lineman, worked as a supervisor and later retired as a substation manager. Lonnie loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle any chance he could, he often took regional and cross-country trips and even went recently to Canada with his riding buddies. Lonnie enjoyed vegetable gardening, fishing, reading and listening to different types of music. He also loved sports and NASCAR. Lonnie always enjoyed going to see his grandchildren in the activities they did, baseball, softball, basketball and wrestling. He also sometimes helped to construct the parks for their recreation, including the sports complex in Folsom.
Survived by: Wife: Mary Jane Phelps Allen of Folsom; 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Lynn and Angie Allen of Folsom, Richard and Tracey Allen of Madisonville; 2 Daughters and a Son in law: Laurie and Brian Hyde of Kentwood, Sheila Allen of Franklinton; 13 Grandchildren: Kialyn Allen, Christopher Allen, Hayden Allen, Kaitlyn Allen, Peyton Allen, Drew Roberts, Lexie Hyde, Laci Hyde, Brian Hyde, Blake Hyde, Gavin DeDon, Allen DeDon, Jordan DeDon; Great-grandchild: Swayzee Roberts; 2 Brothers and Sisters in law: Alfred and Vivian Allen, Ken and Brenda Allen all of Franklinton; Also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ellie Allen and Letha Seal Allen and great-granddaughter Dayci Roberts.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Thursday January 18th from 4 pm until 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at 8 pm Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Darryl Miller officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the name of Allen DeDon (www.stjude.org)
Honorary Pallbearers are his 7 grandsons.
