DOROTHY MAE SALITA BARBER, AGE 88 and a resident of Franklinton died at 10:00 am Tuesday morning January 16, 2018 at Good Samaritan Living Center. She was a native of Baton Rouge and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Franklinton. Dorothy provided babysitting to her family and numerous other children for many years. She enjoyed quilting and cross-stitch. Dorothy loved to cook for her family and friends, especially her best fried chicken, oyster dressing and delicious pound cake. She would also make wonderful Christmas candy and give it as gifts each year to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harper of Baton Rouge, Evelyn and Gerald Jones of Franklinton; 5 Grandchildren and Spouses: Christie and Scott Freshwater of Baton Rouge, Kevin and Michelle Harper of Walker, Darren Jones, PhD and Shannon Jones of Lubbock, TX, Ryan Jones, MD and Tracy Jones of Shreveport, Olga Shemchishina Moffet and David Moffet of Hattiesburg, MS; 13 Great-grandchildren: Cade Thomasson, Chris Thomasson, Jonah Beals, Kai Harper, Tara Harper, Anison Jones, Preston Jones, Keegan Jones, Emerson Jones, Palmer Jones, Hudson Jones, Crawford Jones, Amarie Moffet
She was preceded in death by her husband Newton Joseph Barber and mother Margaret Sanchez Boudreaux.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene St., Franklinton) on Saturday January 20th from 10 am until 12 pm. A funeral service will be held at 12 pm Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joey Miller and Rev. Tom Descant officiating. Burial will follow in the Springhill-Magee Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Community Care Hospice (1007 W. Thomas St. #A, Hammond, LA 70401).
