Charlie P. Thomas
December 21, 1932 - January 1, 2018



CHARLIE PERCY THOMAS, AGE 85 and a resident of Franklinton died at 4:35 pm Monday January 1, 2018 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was a charter member of Briarwood Baptist Church and had recently been attending Pine Missionary Baptist Church. Charlie was a longtime mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, beginning his career on foot delivering in Bogalusa and later he did the Angie-Route 2 area for many years. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Pine Masonic Lodge 264. Charlie P. “Po-boy” as he liked to call himself, loved being involved in athletics because he coached Little League baseball and youth softball and basketball for many years. He was also a baseball umpire and basketball referee throughout the area and later drove the bus for Pine High School teams whenever they needed to travel. Charlie even became the P.A. announcer for the Pine High School football games for many years. He was the owner of the former Charlie’s Seafood and Steakhouse. Charlie also enjoyed playing dominoes with his buddies each week.
Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: Lane and Tricia Thomas of Madisonville; 6 Grandchildren and Spouses: Autumn and Shane Collett, Selena and Greg Hand, Diamond Seal, Skyler and Matt Williams, Brooke Thomas, Angel Thomas; 7 Great-grandchildren: Paisley Collett, Parkston Thomas Collett, Lyliana Ellen Hand, Tucker Seal, Trevor Seal, Everett Williams, Gunnar Percy Thomas; 6 Sisters: Mattie Rose Crain of D’Iberville, MS, Bronis Veona Procell of Angie, Trulia Gale Kidd of Alvin, TX, Lynn Lucille Carter, Demple Darleen Davis, Wilma Dee Miley all of Angie
He was preceded in death by his son Charles Brock Thomas, daughter Cynthia Ellen Thomas, wife Mary Ellen Knight Thomas, parents Newton Jay Thomas and Lucille Schilling Thomas and a sister Sarah Gaine Seale.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Wednesday January 3rd from 5 pm until 9 pm and after 10 am on Thursday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 pm Thursday with Bro. Lynn Martin and Rev. Eric Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery.
