Another drug dealer is off the streets thanks to a joint effort between the STPSO Narcotics Task Force, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force and the STPSO SWAT team.
On January 8, 2017, the three teams executed a search warrant at Villa Du Lac apartments in Slidell. Melvin Hickerson (34) of Slidell was found in possession of approximately 9 pounds of high grade marijuana, several unknown pills, two loaded handguns, one loaded .556 caliber rifle, ammunition, body armor, scales, baggies consistent with the packaging and distribution of marijuana and $4,500 cash.
An infant child was present with Hickerson and is now in the care of family members.
Hickerson was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a CDS in the Presence of a Minor, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Body Armor, Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, and Transactions Involving Proceeds From Drug Offense.
