Hubert H. Mizell
July 06, 1914 - December 07, 2017



Born on July 6th,1914 In Isabel, LA, to parents Bent and Theresa Mizell, Hubert H Mizell was a legend in his own time. A bronc rider from the age of 3, Hubert was born with a fearless heart, always looking for his next adventure. He proudly served his country in WWII as a Staff Sargent in the 105th anti-aircraft artillery, a separate battalion, in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He returned home to Bogalusa, LA to marry the love of his life, Mildred Stafford Mizell, and begin his next adventure as an all-American cowboy, riding the range for the next 60 years. Hubert was also a faithful servant to Christ serving as a Deacon in the Ben’s Ford Baptist Church since 1953. He shared his story and love of Christ with all who met him, even to his last days. Hero to many, Hubert was known most for his passion for life, horses, and family as well as his captivating story-telling ability. Although Hubert has been called home, his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends who love him dearly.
Hubert H. Mizell is preceded in death by his parents, Bent and Theresa Mizell, sisters Velma Byrd (husband Clayton) and Marie Rogers (husband Elmer), wives Mildred Stafford Mizell and Juanita Roach Mizell, and nieces Francis Brown and Sue Adams.
He is survived by his daughter Sheila Mizell Anthaume, son-in-law Octave Anthaume, Granddaughters Danielle Anthaume Keyser and Jamie Anthaume Partridge, grandson-in-laws Kevin Keyser and Michael Partridge. He is loved and missed by great grandchildren Madison and Mackenzie Keyser and Riley and Connor “Jack” Partridge. He also leaves behind brother-in-law Percy Stafford, nieces Nella Guillbeau, Betty Adams and Melanie Mauldin, and nephews William E “Sonny” Byrd, Elmer Rogers, and Michael Stafford and all their families.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. Visitation will conitnue at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 P.M. Funeral Services will be begin at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Lynn Martin and Rev. Caleb Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens with Full Military Graveside Services by the Magic City American Legion Post #24.
