Traffic Stop Leads to Arrests of Bogalusa and Angie Men

Tyrell Davon McGowan, (30) of Bogalusa and Trevor D. Smith (25) of Angie were arrested on numerous charges by Washington Parish Sheriff's Office Patrol Deputy Tyler Lindsey on November 22, 2017. While patrolling in the Angie area, Deputy Lindsey observed a vehicle with no license plate or inspection sticker and made a traffic stop.
As Deputy Lindsey approached the suspect vehicle on foot, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. As McGowan and Smith exited the vehicle, Deputy Lindsey noticed they were very nervous and searched each man for weapons as he detained them. McGowan gave permission for Deputy Lindsey to search the vehicle. The search revealed several packages of narcotics and a fully loaded semi-automatic pistol which turned out to be stolen.
McGowan was charged with possession with intent to distribute Schedule I drugs (4 counts), possession with intent to distribute Schedule II drugs (3 counts), possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV drugs, distribution of Schedule I drugs (3 counts), possession of legend drugs without a prescription, possession of controlled dangerous substances with a weapon present, possession of a stolen firearm, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, no license plate and no inspection sticker.
Smith was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
