Henrietta Hammond
December 24, 1921 - October 28, 2017

Ms. Henrietta Hammond, age 95 and a resident of Bogalusa, departed this life on Saturday, October 28, 2017. She was born December 24, 1921 in Patterson, MS. To the late Porter and Bessie Wilson. Henrietta came to Bogalusa, La in her teenage years to live with her aunt Fannie Dee on Charlevoix Street. Charlevoix St. was a place that she loved to watch over and where she will always be known as “Big Hen.” At a young age, she joined New Triumph Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. F.C. Shumake. Throughout her adulthood she had various careers. Henrietta’s smile would brighten any room along with big sense of humor.
Henrietta leaves to cherish her memories a beloved daughter, Debra (Lee) Henry of Bogalusa, LA; 13 grandchildren, Cedric Hammond of Houston, TX, Delvin Harry of Bogalusa, LA, Akelah Butler of New Orleans, LA, Kelli (Quincy) Robinson- Tugler of Denham Springs, LA, Whitney Robinson of Crowley, LA, Hailey Mims of Bogalusa, LA, Lee Dell Stamps, Leroy Stamps, Mack Stamps, Brenda Stamps, and Adrienne Stamps all of Port Gibson, MS; a host of great grandchildren; one sister, Jessie Yarbrough of Waikiki, IL; two brothers, Will T. Wilson of Port Gibson, MS, and Archie Willson of Patterson, MS; eight special cousins, Terry (Jerri) Richards, Floyd Timmons both of Bogalusa, LA, Floyd (Shateisha) Timmons of Norfolk, VA, Derek (Ceomara) Timmons of Lexington, SC, Eric Timmons, Eric Timmons, Tiffani (Craft) Jackson, Brittani (Quovodis) Dyson, and Natalie Timmons, all of Bogalusa, LA; three special friends, Lisa Holmes, Sharon Walker, and Pam Gibson all of Bogalusa, LA; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents Bessie and Porter Wilson; three children, Charles Hammond, Mozella Stamps, and Henry James Mims; two grandchildren, Melvin Hamlin, and Bobby Stamps; two brothers, George Yarbough, and Porter Wilson; three sisters, Ernestine Fields, Annie White, Ruby Reynolds; one aunt, Fannie Dee; and a special cousin, Beverly Timmons.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 2:00PM - 6:00PM at Crain and Sons FUneral Home Bogalusa Chapel.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 1:00PM at New Triumph Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. E.L. Powell - Pastor Officiating. Interment - Bogalusa Cemetery.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home - Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
