Obituary

Don Veal
March 1, 1928 - October 30, 2017



Don Veal, age 89 and a resident of Osyka, MS, passed away October 30, 2017 at the McComb Nursing and Rehab Center.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Hartman- Jones Funeral Home, 1801 Delaware Ave. McComb, MS. Visitation will resume again on Thursday November 2, 2017 from 9 AM until services at 10 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Osyka. Rev. Jimmy Granger and Rev. Reid Travis will officiate and graveside services will be held in Bears Creek Cemetery in McCool, MS at 3 PM Thursday with Navy Honors.
Don was born March 1, 1928 in McCool, MS to the late, Ben Hill and Cynthia Frances Oliver Veal. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was T.V. Repair Man. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grand and great-grandfather. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy. He was his daughter’s hero and friend; he loved the outdoors and worked at Percy Quin State Park. He loved to hunt and collect guns; he taught Sunday school, he was in the choir and led the singing in church. He had a hearty laugh and was always singing. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of sixty two happy years, Helen Buckles Veal; two daughters, Martha Frances Reigel (Joseph “Joe”) and Mary Ann Godbold (David); eight grandchildren, Craig Stuard, Susan Wheless (Ronnie), Alex Reigel, Mikey Godbold (Laci), Cyndi Laciura (Cole), Britni Godbold, Whitni Godbold and Courtni Godbold; three great-grandchildren, Ginger Nix Godbold, Beau Laciura and Allie Kate Laciura with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Alex Reigel, Craig Stuard, Mikey Godbold, Ronnie Wheless, Cole Laciura and Blake Fenn.
Honorary Pallbearers will be David Godbold, Joe Reigel and the Mt. Zion Men’s Sunday School Class.
