Convicted Felon from Roseland Sentenced for Gun Possession

Acting U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced the sentencing of DAVID SUMERA (31) of Roseland for possessing a firearm after having been convicted of a felony. He was sentenced to 51 months followed by three years of supervised release.
According to court documents, on July 5, 2016, an undercover joint Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Hammond Police Department operation arrested SUMERA for selling a Smith & Wesson Model SD9VE, 9mm semi-automatic pistol to an undercover officer.  SUMERA was prohibited from possessing firearms because of previous convictions for simple robbery and possession of hydrocodone.
