Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Alford Walters

ELIZABETH ANN “BETTY” ALFORD WALTERS, age 79 and a resident of Mt. Hermon died at 9:05 pm Monday September 11, 2017 at Riverside Medical Center. She was a 1955 graduate of Franklinton High School and a former employee of the Louisiana State Welfare Department. Betty was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church who enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. She was an excellent cook, especially seafood and her favorite sweet treats. Betty also enjoyed making delicious jellies and jams and even made candles. She had a special place in her heart for her pet dogs Sable and Precious.
Survived by: Daughter: Tricia Walters Staples of Walker; 3 Grandchildren: Austin Staples of Baton Rouge, Lauren Staples of New York, NY; Mitchell Staples of Walker; Great-granddaughter: Ava Staples; 2 Sisters and Brothers in law: Linda and Louis Cummins of Slidell; Julia and Lane Graham of the Stoney Point Community; Sister in law: Liska Alford of Picayune, MS; Nieces and Nephews: Melissa Gelvin, Deborah Roth, Justin Graham, Bobby Graham, Wade Alford, Jenny Metz, Shevis Ball, Meredith Walters, Mike Walters, Jeffrey Walters, Kathy Welch; Also numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband James H. Walters, parents Glenn Daniel Alford, Sr. and Clara Mae Burch Alford, and a brother Glenn Daniel Alford, Jr.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton Thursday September 14th from 5 pm until 8 pm and after 9 am on Friday. A funeral service will be held at 10 am Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joe Kelly and Rev. Jeffrey Walters officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
