Obituary

Donnie Riley
December 11, 1926 - September 25, 2017



DONNIE RILEY, age 90 and a resident of Franklinton died at 10:00 pm Monday September 25, 2017 at Good Samaritan Living Center. He was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church and a United States Army veteran of the Korean War Era. Donnie retired as a foreman with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and was a beef cattleman throughout his life. He was a member of the Washington Parish Cattleman’s Association as well as a former member of the Mt. Hermon Ruritan Club. Donnie loved working on his farm and truly had a “green thumb”. He could plant just about anything and it would grow perfectly. Donnie enjoyed the outdoors as well as small-game hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing his guitar, singing and listening to his favorite country music.
Survived by: 2 Daughters and a Son in law: Kim Barber and Steve Rushing of Tylertown, Karen and Eric Payne of Franklinton; 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Mark and Sherron Riley of Kentwood, Kenneth and Brenda Strahan of Franklinton; 5 Grandchildren and Spouses: Ashton Gill and fiancé Cody Newman, Whitney and Jimmy Ray Jones, Trevor Barber, Richard and Breann Inkinbrant, Taylor Riley; 9 Great-grandchildren: Kassidy Tastet, Jett Deroche, Jordyn Deroche, Gabby Newman, Landon Newman, Avery Jones, Grady Jones, Braydon Inkinbrant, Adelyn Inkinbrant; 2 Sisters: Junie Painter, Glendora Bickham both of Mt. Hermon; Mother of His Children: Barbara Riley of Mt. Hermon; Also numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred Riley and Zula Miller Riley and a sister Burnell Denham and wife Mae Strahan Riley.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Wednesday September 27th from 5 pm until 9 pm and after 12 pm on Thursday. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the staff of Good Samaritan Living Center, Southeast Home Health and Paula Painter of Community Care Hospice.
