Barbara Durden Alford
November 25, 1942 - August 9, 2017


BARBARA DURDEN ALFORD, AGE 74 and a resident of Mt. Hermon died Wednesday afternoon August 9, 2017 at her home. She was a longtime active member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary for many years and also on the finance committee. Barbara was a member of the church choir and played the piano on occasion. She worked alongside her husband in their Tangi-Wash Dairy and on the farm and was always a dependable help-mate in the family business. Barbara enjoyed watching the basketball games at Bowling Green and loved following her granddaughters during their softball and soccer games.
Survived by: Husband of 56 years: Paul Alford of Mt. Hermon; Daughter and Son in law: Theresa and Gene Consterdine of Baton Rouge; 2 Granddaughters: Victoria Consterdine, Haleigh Consterdine; Sisters in law: Linda Durden of Franklinton, Eleanor “Pete” Schilling, Delores Corkern both of Mt. Hermon; Brother in law: Robert “Bob” Smith of Mt. Hermon; Also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her son James Preston Alford, her parents Russell Durden and Florena Jenkins Durden, sister Candice Lorena Durden, brother William Russell “Bill” Durden, sisters in law Mary Ella “Toby” Smith, Patsy Dedon, brothers in law J.W. “Doc” Schilling, Jimmy Corkern, Ralph Dedon.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday August 11th from 10 am until 2 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Friday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Joe Baugh and Rev. Ray Wuerzer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church cemetery.
