Man Accused in Amite Jail Beating Death Pleads Guilty to Theft of Firearms

ANTWON SEYMORE (19) pled guilty yesterday (August 24, 2017) to theft of firearms from a premises owned by a federally-licensed firearms dealer and aiding-and-abetting. According to the court documents, SEYMORE, and a juvenile broke into The Tickfaw Auction Company and stole 25 handguns. 
SEYMORE faces a maximum term of imprisonment of ten years, and/or a fine of $250,000, and three years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. U.S. District Judge Lance M. Africk set sentencing on November 16, 2017.
Seymore is one of several men who stand accused of the beating death of Tommy Joe Smith of Independence. All were inmates in the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite on January 30, 2017, when Smith was brutally attacked by multiple offenders, according to authorities. There has been no disposition in that case.
