Darnell Reed (46) of Bogalusa is back in jail on a new Simple Burglary charge after being arrested by BPD Monday (July 31, 2017), just before midnight. Reed had been arrested July 24, 2017 by BPD for Simple Burglary of Tobacco Discount on Memphis Street and released on bond July 27, 2017. That arrest came after Reed was identified on video surveillance and located on Columbia Street carrying a large plastic bag that contained merchandise stolen from Tobacco Discount.
Reed's most recent arrest came after a BPD officer saw Reed walking with a large trash bag in his hand on Columbia Street. When the officer turned around to investigate, Reed ran but was captured and arrested. The bag Reed was carrying was full of merchandise that included women's shoes, purses, hair dryers and hair pieces. Officers checked Classy Hair and Wigs, which sells these type of items, and observed the front glass to the building had been broken out and burglarized.
Reed was charged with Simple Burglary of Classy Hair and Wigs. The Washington Parish Sheriff's Department also has an active warrant on Reed for Simple Burglary.
