On July 5, 2017, Governor John Bel Edwards announced the reappointment of Michael J. “Mickey” Murphy of Bogalusa to the Board of Supervisors of Community and Technical Colleges. Murphy is the former dean of the Sullivan Campus of Louisiana Technical College. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts degree from Northwestern State University. Murphy will serve as a representative of the 5th Congressional District.
Murphy's appointment was one of four announced to the Board which serves as the management board for Louisiana's public 2-year institutions. Its mission is to improve the quality of life of the State's citizens through education programs offered through its colleges.
