Covington Man Cited for Theft from Crab Traps

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited Connor P. Green (28) of  Covington for theft from crab traps on Lake Pontchartrain on July 19, 2017.
Agents were on patrol on Lake Pontchartrain when they observed Green harvesting crabs from crab traps.  Agents initiated a compliance check with Green and found that none of the traps he just harvested crabs from belonged to him. Agents seized four and a half boxes of live blue crabs and returned them back into the water.
Regulations state that no person other than the licensee or his agent shall remove the contents from a crab trap. Theft from crab traps brings a $400 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail.
