Acting U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced
that CRYSTAL LANGDON (35) of Slidell was sentenced June 22, 2017 after
previously pled guilty to buying cold medications with the knowledge that they
would be used to manufacture methamphetamine. She was sentenced to 36 months
imprisonment, to be followed by 3 years of supervised release and a $100 special
assessment.
According to court documents, LANGDON was engaged in “smurfing,”
which involves various individuals going to the same or nearby stores and each
making individual purchases of restricted cold medication, which are then
grouped together in order to make a batch of methamphetamine.
LANGDON admitted to the “smurfing” activity from May through June of 2015.
The medication was given to another individual to produce methamphetamine at a
house on Swan Street in Slidell.
