Franklinton Police Chief Releases May Stats

Franklinton Police Chief Olander Smith provided his department's stats at the Franklinton Board of Aldermen meeting on May 23, 2017. Information provided actually include the period of April 26 to May 22 of 2017. The report reflected a total of 677 Calls for Service, divided into the headings of Public Assistance, Traffic, and Criminal Patrol.
Responses for Public Assistance included general complaints (290), extra patrols (53), medical calls (28), alarms (32), and suspicious persons or vehicles (19).
Traffic activity included traffic stops (50), vehicle crashes (23), hit and runs (6), reckless operation (13), and citations (53). No DWI's were reported for the period.
Criminal Patrol responses included disturbances (24), fights (4), simple battery (3), criminal damage to property (2), burglaries (1), theft and shoplifting (7), narcotics (5). Officers made 52 total arrests.
Chief Smith also reported that, during the reporting period,

  • he spoke at Friendship Church
  • Officers Randall Penton, David Pettit, Rusty Jenkins, and Cody Magee cooked for the Franklinton High baseball and football teams for their end of the year banquets, and
  • Sgt. Brad Eckert attended Farm Day at Franklinton Elementary School and spoke to multiple classes about firearms safety.
