Tip Leads to Seizure of Stolen Beer in Hammond

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office Street Crimes Unit received information on Wednesday (April 12, 2017) of an individual enroute to Quicks Red & White store in Hammond selling cases of stolen beer. When detectives approached the business, they saw two male subjects near the rear of a parked vehicle. Detectives observed one of the subjects removing cases of beer from the vehicle and sell them to the other subject who was later identified as the store manager.
The driver of the parked vehicle was identified as Roger Granger (54) of Ponchatoula. His passengers in the vehicle were identified as Denise Granger (58) and Sheilia Sanderford (47). The store manager, Emad Zayed (52) of Kenner admitted to purchasing several cases of beer from Roger Granger.
The Street Crimes Unit contacted the State of Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control whose agents conducted an inspection of the business and discovered 34 cases of beer not accounted for with proof of purchase. They seized 77 packs of beer and the Street Crimes Unit seized 10 more cases of beer from the trunk of Roger Granger’s vehicle. The three also admitted the 32 cases of beer seized from a search warrant on Herman Johnson Lane last week were in fact stolen by them and traded for narcotics.
Roger Granger, Denise Granger and Sheilia Sanderford were charged with felony theft and Emad Zayed was charged with felony possession of stolen property.

Sheriff Daniel Edwards would like to thank Crime Stoppers of Tangipahoa and the public for their continued support in assisting law enforcement in solving crimes.  Together we remain united in keeping Tangipahoa safe!
