Ponchatoula Burglar Caught After Foot Chase

Early Monday morning (April 17, 2017), Ponchatoula Police Lieutenant Jeremy Ballard heard a burglar alarm coming from the business of Greenwave Carwash. Checking it out, Lt. Ballard saw a man later identified as (Ronnie Lumbley, age 52) walking from the rear of the business which had a broken window. When Lt. Ballard attempted to detain Lumbley, he fled on a bicycle. A chase began lasting several blocks and involving additional assisting officers. When caught, Lumbley chose to fight but was taken into custody and charged with Simple Burglary and Resisting an Officer (2 counts).
Lumbley was currently on Parole for a previous burglary charge.
"I'm proud of the fast response and teamwork displayed by my Officers," said Chief Layrisson. "By using investigative skill and good judgment, another criminal is behind bars. We are here to send a message that crime will not be tolerated in Ponchatoula."
