Mary Jane Myers
May 02, 1950 - March 13, 2017



Mary Jane Myers was born on May 2, 1950 to the parents of Solomon Oless Matthews and Pearlie Morris Matthews both of Varnado, La.
She joined Mr. Zion Missionary Baptist as a young child and remained active until her death.
Mary Jane grew up in Varnado, La. She was a graduate of Wesley Ray High School (Class of 1968). She was an educator in both Washington Parish and Bogalusa City School, where she inspired many young minds. She was always willing to share the gospel whenever the opportunity presented itself. She was loving, caring, giving, devoted, a faithful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her children and grandchildren were the joys of her life, which she often expressed through her soulful cooking.
She leaves to cherish her memories; 5 children: Mary (Terry) May, Cecil (Crystal) Myers, Miranda Myers, Bette (Dwight) Womack, and Keith Myers; 3 brothers: Bobby (Esther) Matthews, Sr., Richard (Ellen) Matthews Sr. and Joseph Matthews Sr.; 6 grandsons, 4 granddaughters and a host of relatives and friends.
Mary Jane Myers is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Miesha Q. Myer, 2 sisters: Ozalean Foster and Paulette Foster.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday March 17, 2017 from 2 pm to 4 pm at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11 am at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Varnado, Louisiana.
