Obituary

Rosa Lee Andrews
June 27, 1935 - February 19, 2017



Rosa Lee Andrews was born June, 27, 1995. She is the only child of Frank and Mary Ella Martin. Rosa grew up in Mt. Hermon, Louisiana where she attended Vernon High School. She met and married David Charles Andrews in March of 1953, and to this union six children were born. Dan, Gwen, Perry, Denise, Romelis, and Lisa Andrews. From her six children she has 23 grandchildren and over 40 great-grandchildren.
Rosa joined Sunlight Church of God in Christ in the late 1950’s were she was a Sunday School Teacher. In the 1960’s, Rosa, her husband, and her children moved to Rochester, NY. While in Rochester, NY. Rosa was a member of Benjamin Temple Church of God in Christ, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and President of The Pastor’s Aid. Rosa attended Monroe Community College, and received an associate’s degree in education. She later attended Nazareth College and earned a bachelor degree in elementary education. She taught in both elementary and junior high schools while in NY.
In 1984, Rosa returned to Louisiana. Rosa was currently the Sunday School Superintendent, bible band president, and the church secretary at Sunlight Church of God in Christ. Rosa lee Andrews enjoys traveling to different places, visiting the sick and shut in, spending time with her family and friends in Rochester NY, experiencing fine dining, and visiting various churches.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Perry (Nora) Andrews, Romelis (Laurie) Andrews, and Dan (Carlise) Andrews all of Rochester, NY; three daughters, Denise (Ben) Hann, Gwen Andrews, and Lisa (James) Burton all of Rochester, NY; five brothers, Larry Martin, and Harold Martin, both of Mt. Hermon, LA, Jeffro Martin, Gregory Martin, both of New Orleans, LA, and Herman Tate; three sisters, Jennifer Martin of Kentwood, LA, Shirley Mae Miller of Mt. Hermon, LA, and Joyce Tate of Baton, Rouge, LA; best friend, Loucean James; special cousin, Colston Martin; two God daughters, LaSharn Wright and Ernestine Lockett; twenty one grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank Martin and Mary Ella Brock; her husband, David Andrews; one sister, Barbara Ann Martin.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 2:00PM - 6:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home - Franklinton.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 12:00OPM Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Osyka, Mississippi
