Dollar General Store in Abita Robbed Friday

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who robbed an Abita Springs-area Dollar General store Friday (February 24, 2017) afternoon.
The man is described as white, approximately 6-foot tall with a slender build, wearing dark blue running pants with a white stripe on the side, a black sweatshirt, a baseball cap and sunglasses.
He walked around the store for approximately 20 minutes before approaching the checkout counter. He then implied he had a weapon under his shirt and demanded the cashier give him money. The cashier gave him an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and the man fled in what appeared to be a gold in color, older-model Nissan Altima. The vehicle had what appeared to be a red or dark-colored hood.
Anyone who recognizes this man or this vehicle or has information about this crime, is asked to call Det. Crabtree at 985-726-7839.
