Two “Career Criminals” From Tangipahoa Caught After Pursuit

On January 14, 2017 Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel reported the arrest of Joseph Ryan Trapen (21) of Tickaw and Cali Nobles (27) of Ponchatoula, two armed and dangerous "career criminals" suspected of over 40 -50 vehicle burglaries, 4 possible aggravated burglaries, multiple counts of auto theft, and much more. The couple also expended their crime spree efforts from the Ponchatoula area into multi-jurisdictions.
After a two-day search, the two were located in the Pontchatoula area and were caught in the act of committing a burglary.  The two led deputies in a vehicle pursuit in which the suspects crashed and then fled on foot.  They stole a pickup truck and fled to Livingston Parish.
TPSO and LPSO Detectives and K-9's located the two.  Trapen was non-compliant and displayed a handgun that was later discovered as stolen.  Trapen lost control of the weapon and was taken custody with only minor injuries. He was taken to Lallie Kemp Hospital for wounds from the K-9 apprehension.  Nobles was taken to the LPSO jail.
The investigation is on-going and the two face numerous charges.
