The Louisiana Heart Hospital, a 134-bed facility near Lacombe, announced this week that it would file for bankruptcy protection and likely close within the next month.
Hospital officials cited shrinking reimbursements and rising operating costs as the reasons for the move. They have been searching for a buyer, but none has been found, according to a news release.
Care for current in-patients will not be interrupted. Others are encouraged to contact their doctor if they have questions about how the closure may affect them, the news release said.
