Burglary Spree Stopped by STPSO Detectives

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s detectives have recovered over $16,000 worth of property, and stopped a one man burglary spree that has plagued the Slidell area since late November of 2016.
Steven Barrios (27) is accused of burglarizing over twenty storage units and three surrounding businesses on Highway 190E in Slidell over a month period.  Barrios is accused of stealing over $25,000 worth of property, and causing thousands of dollars in property damage. Detectives say he was stealing 4-wheelers, power tools, vehicle parts, engines, and electronics and trading the stolen items for cash.
Barrios was located last week at his grandmothers house in Slidell and booked on the charges of Simple Burglary (26 counts), Theft over $750 (6 counts), Theft under $750 ( 2 counts), Theft of a Motor Vehicle (4 counts), Criminal Trespass (5 counts), Criminal Damage over $500.00 (4 counts), and Criminal Damage (5 counts)
The investigation is still ongoing and more charges are expected.
