Thanksgiving Crash and Grab Ends in Arrest

Slidell resident Alfred Nevis (46) spent Thanksgiving in jail after he drove his vehicle through Jack’s Beverage at 1126 Old Spanish Trail in Slidell.   Slidell Police responded after a passerby reported that a vehicle had driven through the glass doors of the establishment around 5:45am Thursday morning.  The front of the store was completely destroyed. Surveillance videos recorded a gold Ford Explorer driving through the front of the store, reversing out, and then stopped in the parking lot. The eager shopper then ran into the business, and seconds later ran out with his hands full of bottles of alcohol.
Officers and detectives found the vehicle and Alfred Nevis, who confessed, and said  he battles an addiction to crack cocaine, and the bottles of alcohol he stole were traded for crack cocaine before he returned home.
Nevis was charged with Burglary of a Business, Criminal Damage, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Chief E.J. Howard stated, “while businesses are closed overnight and holidays, Law Enforcement works twenty four hours a day and seven days a week. With the help of the community Slidell Police Officers were able to quickly solve this crime within hours.”
